Silk Maids at Work

Calling all Silk Maids and looking back on the past achievements. It so good to see once the basic silk painting techniques have been learnt what wonder can be achieved. We don't work to a set design leaving each artist free to create at their own level keeping their works as simple or as complex as they like. Some chose to draw freehand, others bring designs or pictures to trace onto silk, some work with gutta creating intricate patterns or paintings while others prefer to work with free flowing silk dyes. And after the painting and dyeing is done the work may be seen as complete or could be further embellished with embroidery, beading, machine stitching or various other craft techniques. There is nothing better than hearing the quiet hum of creativity and watching The Silk Maid's at work. Best of all is seeing the joy as participants celebrate their own creativity.  Those who were convinced at the beginning of class they weren't blessed with artistic genes now delight in what they have achieved. Creativity is a gift for all sometimes we just need an encouraging non confronting environment in which to blossom.
